Review #1: Emma-Jean Lazarus Fell Out of a Tree

Title: Emma-Jean Lazurus Fell Out of a Tree
Author: Lauren Tarshis
Rating (Out of 5 Stars): 4/5 (I really liked it)
Approximate Age Range: 8-12
Genre: Realistic Fiction
Written Review: Emma-Jean is a 7th grade girl, and has always been described as... a little, well, strange, weird, out of the ordinary, etc.
She doesn't have many friends, actually no friends in school at least, but she appreciates her few friends she has like, Henri (her parrot), and Vikram Adwani (her grown up friend from India who rents a room in Emma's home and cooks amazing dishes from India). Emma Jean lives with her mom, (and Vikram), her dad had died 2 years ago and was a beyond intelligent professor at the university. Emma-Jean loved her father with all her heart and still dearly misses him. The whole story starts out on one normal school day when Emma finds Colleen Pomerantz in the batroom crying. Emma and Colleen establish some what of a friendship and  she helps Colleen cope with the evil Laura who is trying to steal Kaitlyn, Colleens best friend, by taking Colleens place on the annual ski trip Kaitlyns family and Colleen go on every year. But when Emma-Jean tires to help Colleen out,  it doesn't all end in a smooth way, Emma-Jean comes up with an intelligent, yet devious, plan that may just get the two expelled. This is a heart-felt book of friendship, family, love, and mystery. It is a fast paced book that you will want to keep on reading.Find out what they have done, and how Emma-Jean falls out of a tree by reading this book!
